MILITARY

Foam Engineers has been increasingly selling its engineered foam solutions into the military sector both in the UK and in export markets too.

Foam Engineers is serious about quality and the company was one of the first UK technical foam fabricators to recognise the importance of independent quality assurance accreditation and gained ISO accreditation in 1992 (then BS5750 Part2). The advantage of having adopted the accreditation system for nearly 20 years means that the system has matured sufficiently for the company to focus on each customer’s specific quality requirements.

Linked to the company’s attention to detail is our independent foam sourcing policy. Buying direct from so many of the foam manufacturers, both polyethylene and polyurethane foam, means that Foam Engineers can offer a competitive price on many specialist grades.

Foam Engineers supplies a wide array of products and solutions for numerous military applications which include: fuel tank foam for explosion suppressant applications, seats and cushions for specialised aerospace upholstery, blocking and bracing components, pads and support products, thermal and noise insulation foams, foam cushions and foam dunnage, case inserts, and many specialized foam components.

Many of the foams we supply meet specific industry standards such as USAF MIL-Spec MIL-B-83054B and MIL-PRF-87260A as well as UK MOD standards DStan 81-116/3 Type GP. Aviation standards such as FAR 25.853 and FAR 25.856 can also be complied with from our range of specialist flame retardant foams.

The types of foams we supply into the military sector include: reticulated explosion suppressant foam (ESF), polyurethane foam, Zotefoams® Plastazote LD45 and LD45FR, Zotek F closed cell insulation foam and closed cell nitrile rubber.

Many of our customers require a combination of foam types and see the advantage of our wide range of products. We can provide full material traceability and many of our military customers require the foams we supply to be in either sub assembly or kit format. We are used to shipping these types of components worldwide.

Our expertise lies in engineering specific shapes in the chosen grade of foam. Using water jet and CNC cutting technology a wide variety of intricate shapes can be produced including cylinders, pads, die-cut recesses and convoluted profiles. Complex 3D shapes can be manufactured through our moulding process and where required we can manufacture special purpose machinery for your bespoke product.

At Foam Engineers we understand our customer’s requirements for confidentiality and integrity. We have a track record in supplying foam components to UK MOD and major aerospace companies in many cases complying with the necessary specific quality protocols.
