How do I know which grade of foam is suitable for my application?
The sales team at Foam Engineers are trained to offer technical advice and support. They will need information on your application. A Foam Sample Kit is available to help you select the correct grade of foam.
How many types of foams do you have available?
At the last count we calculate over 500 different types of foams are readily available! It is important that we help advise you on what is the most economical way of supplying technical foams for your specific requirements.
Do you charge for samples?
If you have paid for tooling, you will receive a sample for approval free of charge. Generally hand cut samples are also supplied free of charge.
How long do tools take to manufacture?
Typically we can offer tooling within 48 hours. Same day tooling is possible should an urgency arise.
How long do you keep tools?
Tools that are not used after 3 years are destroyed. They remain available to you during that period should you wish to place further orders.
How do you deliver our goods?
Foam Engineers operates it's own fleet of commercial vehicles and will use third party carriers for overnight deliveries. Products are packaged in either polythene bags or corrugated cartons. Palletisation is available on request. Special packaging requirements must be notified at the point that our quotation is prepared.
Can I collect from the High Wycombe factory?
Yes - ex works prices are available, or collection discounts if the quoted price included carriage. The factory opening hours are Mon to Fri 08.00 to 16.30 (15.00 on Fridays).
Do you have a minimum order quantity?
Yes - our minimum order charge is £250 excluding carriage and VAT.
What are your lead times?
It's always best to check, should you have an urgent requirement. Generally previously ordered foam takes 5 to 10 days to manufacture and deliver, scheduled call-off requirements however can be on a daily basis. Items requiring new tooling and approval will take 7 days longer.
What are your tolerances?
Flexible foam is a very different material compared to say wood or metal. Tolerances are much wider, which reflects the physical qualities of the material. Die-cut foam will feature cupping or distortion around the edges. Please speak with one of the Sales team for further guidance, a standard tolerance statetment is available on request.
What are your payment terms?
For non-account customers payment is by proforma invoice. We do not start manufacturing your order until payment has been received. For account holders standard payment terms are 30 days end of month. Early payment discounts are available.
What type of drawings do you prefer to work with?
We can work with a sketch or, by preference a full engineering drawing. If you can e-mail drawings to us all the better, our CAD software can accept files in DXF and DWG format.
Do you have ISO Quality System Accreditation?
Yes, Foam Engineers was one of the first foam converters to achieve
ISO 9001:2000 in 1992.
